We have a range of ideas to add a special twist to a worldwide favourite, the classic hommus.

Classic Hommus

  • Ingredients:

  • 1 cup dried chickpeas
  • 2 tbsp tahini
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp seat salt
  • Ground paprika and olive oil to serve

Simple Steps:

Place chickpeas in a bowl, cover with cold water and plastic wrap. Soak overnight.

Drain chickpeas. Place in a saucepan, cover with cold water, cover with a lid and bring to the boil using a medium heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, for 20 - 25 mins until tender. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup liquid.

Pop chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, oil, salt and reserved liquid into a food processor and blend until almost smooth.

Spoon and smooth into a bowl, sprinkle with paprika and a drizzle of olive oil

Alternative serving option:

Toss chickpeas with 2 tsps of middle easten spice mix, roast in the oven for 20 minutes or until golden. Add vine-ripened cherry tomatoes, toss through and bake for a further 10 mins. Top your classic hommus with roasted chickpeas and cherry tomatoes, drizzle with yoghurt & serve.

Add baby beetroot, roasted pumpkin or spinach before processing the chickpeas for a different spin on this traditional recipe.
